Thomas Partey Transfer

Arsenal midfielder wants to leave this summer

Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey is expected to leave this summer after falling out of favour in the North London club since the arrival of Declan Rice last summer. The Ghanian midfielder has endured a topsy-turvy spell at Arsenal since his arrival from Atletico Madrid back in 2020.

Arsenal’s Thomas Partey Transfer Could Happen This Summer

The Ghanaian midfielder joined the Gunners in the summer of 2020 in a €50m deal from Atletico Madrid. He played a crucial role for Mikel Arteta’s side in his first two years at the club but his injury troubles over the last few seasons has made him a liability due to an extended spell on the sidelines.

Earlier this season, Partey sustained a groin injury which kept him out of bounds for several weeks. The £200k-per-week midfielder started in all last five games for Arsenal but the club is hesitant to offer him a contract extension.

The midfielder has missed a total of 26 games this campaign while managing only 10 starts across all competitions.

Partey’s spell at Arsenal has been clouded by his recurrent injuries, prompting the club’s hesitance to offer him a new deal this summer. The former Atletico Madrid star has bagged five goals across 95 appearances for Mikel Arteta’s side.

The 30-year-old midfielder has reportedly attracted interest from Saudi Arabia and a move to Turkey in the previous January transfer window was mooted.

“They have several players lined up. There is a good chance they will bring in a new midfielder, Thomas [Partey] will leave, Jorginho has extended.

“There are several players in the list. One player they’ve always appreciated is Douglas Luiz, but negotiating with Villa is never easy.”

The Gunners are expected to be in the market for a new defensive midfielder and could reignite their interest in Arsenal’s Douglas Luis this summer.
