  • Tournament – FA Cup fourth round
  • Date – Friday, January 27
  • Kick-off Time – 01:30 am IST
  • Venue – Tottenham Hotspur Stadium

Tottenham will host Manchester City in the fourth round of the FA Cup this season.

It is a key competition for both sides. City are looking to defend the trophy as they won it last season as part of their historic treble. Spurs, meanwhile, are hoping to finally end their trophy drought and win silverware for the first time since 2008.

Tottenham have been rejuvenated under Ange Postecoglou this season. Despite their numerous injury issues and suspensions, they sit fifth in the Premier League table, eight points behind leaders Liverpool. Spurs beat Burnley in the FA Cup third round.

Man City, meanwhile, are second, five points behind the Reds with a game in hand. They beat Huddersfield 5-0 in their third-round fixture in the FA Cup.

The two sides played out a thrilling 3-3 draw at the Etihad in their Premier League fixture earlier this season.

Team News

Tottenham are missing three key players in the form of Son Heung-min, Paper Matar Sarr, and Yves Bissouma due to their respective international duty. In terms of injuries, they are without Ben Davies, Alejo Veliz, Manor Solomon, and Dane Scarlett.

James Maddison and Giovani Lo Celso could potentially make a return for the clash.

Manchester City, meanwhile, are without Zack Steffen and potentially Ederson due to injury. John Stones, Erling Haaland, and Manuel Akanji could return to the squad against Spurs.

Prediction

Manchester City have a poor record at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and haven’t looked at their best this season. However, they secured a big comeback win over Newcastle United in their last game, orchestrated by the returning Kevin de Bruyne.

Man City are unbeaten in their last nine games across competitions, winning eight of them.

Spurs, meanwhile, have lost just one of their last seven games across competitions and are unbeaten in the last three. They played out a 2-2 draw against Manchester United at Old Trafford in their last game.

While they’re missing some key players, Tottenham still have a better squad than they did in their recent 3-3 draw against City. Hence, they should be able to maintain their good record over Pep Guardiola’s side at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Predicted Score: Tottenham 2-1 Manchester City

Tottenham vs Man City Players to Watch Out For

Tottenham

For Spurs, the player to watch out for will be Dejan Kulusevski. The Sweden international didn’t feature in their last game against Manchester United due to illness and his return will be a big boost for Tottenham.

Kulusevski has been a revelation in midfield with his ball-carrying prowess and creativity. He also has a phenomenal record against Man City, scoring three goals and providing two assists in four games against them.

Manchester City

For Man City, Phil Foden could be the key player for the clash against Spurs. He and Bernardo Silva are likely to start on the right side of City’s attack and will be up against Destiny Udogie and Micky van de Ven.

Foden has been in excellent form this season, recording 11 goals and eight assists in 31 games across competitions this season.

With Kevin De Bruyne unlikely to feature for 90 minutes, Foden will be expected to be Man City’s creative outlet once again.
