Valencia vs Mallorca Preview

Valencia vs Mallorca will take place in La Liga at the Mestalla Stadium on March 30 as the eighth-placed team will take on the 14th-placed team.

The hosts will enter this game on the back of a faltering run of form. They have won just once in their last five games, drawing twice and losing twice. In that span, they have scored just three goals and conceded five. Despite keeping two clean sheets, they will need to find better consistency as they are six points outside the European spots for next season. Valencia lost their last league game 1-0 away at Villarreal and will look to do better in the next one.

The visitors, on the other hand, will enter this contest on the back of a decent run of form. They have won three, lost one and drawn one of their last five games across competitions. In that time, they have scored four goals and conceded three goals, keeping two clean sheets in the process. Currently, on 30 points after 29 games, they will look to secure a few more wins to try and climb into the top half of the table. Their last game was a 1-0 win over Granada with a late goal from Antonio Raillo to secure all three points.

With that said, let’s take a look at the team news coming from both sides.

Manager Ruben Baraja will have to deal with a couple of injuries to key players ahead of this game. Mouctar Diakhaby will be out for at least a year after suffering a horrific injury earlier this month. The Guinean damaged his knee and will miss a considerable amount of action.

Skipper Jose Luis Gaya also picked up a knock in the last game and came off injured in the 40th minute to be replaced by Thierry Correia. He will be assessed before the next one. Fran Perez has picked up four yellows and will be suspended should he be booked again.

Mallorca

Manager Javier Aguirre is fairly worry-free with respect to injuries, with just a couple of players missing. Martin Valjent and Omar Mascarell are doubts for the next couple of games. The pair have missed the last few games and will be sidelined for a few more.

Samuel Costa is available for selection having served his suspension in the last game. However, Sergi Dader, Omar Mascarell, Martin Valjent and Jose Copete could face suspension should any of them pick up another booking.

Valencia vs Mallorca Prediction

Despite Valencia being much higher in the table, Mallorca’s recent form would make it difficult to rule them out from getting something out of this game. However, considering the weaker of the two is arguably playing with home advantage, the game could end in a draw.

Prediction: Valencia 2-2 Mallorca.
