Victor Osimhen set to miss weekend clash against Inter Milan

Napoli striker Victor Osimhen has reportedly trained separately on Friday as the 25-year-old forward picked up a muscle strain against Barcelona in the Champions League on Tuesday night.

The Nigerian forward was criticised by the Italian media in the wake of Napoli’s 3-1 loss against Xavi’s men and eventually crashing out of the Champions League.

The Partenopei are currently 7th in the Serie A rankings and will need to earn some points to gain ground on the likes of Bologna who are seven points above them in the fourth place.

According to Sky Sport Italia, Osimhen who has recently signed a contract extension until 2026 will miss the away game tie at San Siro on Sunday night.

Premier League clubs battling for Victor Osimhen’s signature this summer.

The 25-year-old striker signed a contract extension with Napoli until the summer of 2026 and has a release clause of €130m in his new deal.

Premier League clubs like Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United are all keen on having the Nigerian international in their ranks and are expected to make a move for his services in the upcoming summer window.

Arsenal are expected to sign a new striker in the summer and Osimhen will become a key target, but it remains doubtful whether the Arsenal board will want to trigger the Nigerian’s mammoth €130 million release clause.

Newcastle United are also interested in Osimhen’s services as they have struggled to reach the levels they did last season. On the other hand, Manchester United are also keen to reignite their interest in the Nigerian striker as signing a new forward this summer is one of Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s top priorities.

It would be interesting to see if any clubs in the Premier League are willing to fork out €130m this summer. The Gunners would surely be a perfect destination for Osimhen as they will have guaranteed European competition to offer.
