Bengal played their third match of the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy against Chandigarh at the Niranjan Shah Stadium, Rajkot, on Monday, December 29. Many fans thought that it would be an easy contest for Bengal, since they had big names in their squad, but Chandigarh put up a great fight and scored 319 after batting first.

However, the limelight of the match was stolen by Bengal batter and star opener Abishek Porel, who smashed a century in the second innings and did something which reminded fans of an iconic moment.

Bengal's left-handed opener Abishek Porel produced a memorable moment during the third round of the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2025-26. After smashing an impressive century against Chandigarh, the young sensation took out a paper from his pocket and signalled it towards the Bengal dugout. Cricket fans have seen it before, as the same kind of celebration was done by Abhishek Sharma earlier this year in the IPL. Abhishek Porel's Century Helps Bengal Beat Chandigarh

As mentioned above, Chandigarh were asked to bat first after which they scored 319 runs on the back of their skipper's century, Manan Vohra played a classical knock of 122 runs and set the platform for a big total. However, Mukesh Kumar's five-for in the late phase of the innings shifted momentum towards Bengal, and what looked like a big total at one stage was reduced to just 319.

One of the best bowlers in the world, Mohammed Shami also bowled well and took three crucial wickets for the team. However, it was Porel who gave Bengal a brilliant start. He was on the charge from the beginning and played a 106-run knock off just 84 balls, featuring 12 fours and two sixes. During this knock, he showed why he is among the best wicketkeepers in India at the moment.

But ultimately, the star of the match was the all-rounder Shahbaz Ahmed, who first took two wickets with the ball, then played an unbeaten match-winning knock of 76 runs and ensured his team's victory.
