Afghanistan Tri-Nation Series 2026: Full Schedule, Squads and Venues

Afghanistan's hectic international cricket schedule is about to step into its next phase, with Bangladesh and Zimbabwe joining them for a tri-nation ODI series in the United Arab Emirates. The series will kick off with the hosting nation facing Bangladesh in a one-off Test scheduled from October 9 to 13.

The focus will then shift to the Afghanistan Tri-Nation ODI series 2026, featuring four matches starting from October 17. Each side will play two league games before the final two teams at the top of the points table meet in the final.

The Afghanistan Tri Nation ODI series venues are Abu Dhabi and Sharjah, which have two of the most beautiful cricket stadiums in the world. The initial two matches will be held in Sheikh Zayed Cricket Stadium, Abu Dhabi, while the concluding league game and the finals will take place in Sharjah Cricket Stadium.

Bangladesh will play Zimbabwe in the first ODI on October 17. It will be followed by Afghanistan's clash with Zimbabwe on October 19. Afghanistan and Bangladesh will meet for the final time on October 21, after which the top teams will compete for the title on October 23. Afghanistan have picked a strong ODI squad for the upcoming tournament, with Rahmat Shah leading the squad and Rahmanullah Gurbaz serving as the vice-captain and the primary wicketkeeper.

Other established names include Rashid Khan, Azmatullah Omarzai and Mohammad Nabi, all of whom are amongst the best all-rounders in the world. The Afghanistan Cricket Board has also given a chance to younger players as part of their preparations for the 2027 ODI World Cup.

Rahmat Shah (C), Rahmanullah Gurbaz (VC & WK), Ikram Alikhil (WK), Sediqullah Atal, Ibrahim Zadran, Hashmatullah Shahidi, Azmatullah Omarzai, Mohammad Nabi, Rashid Khan, Nangyalai Khan, AM Ghazanfar, Bilal Sami, Zia Ur Rahman Sharifi, Fazalhaq Farooqi and Yamin Ahmadzai. Qais Ahmad has been named as the travelling reserve.

While Afghanistan squad for ODI tri series has been announced, Bangladesh and Zimbabwe are yet to name it. After the final of the ODI Tri-Series, Afghanistan and Zimbabwe will play in three T20Is scheduled from October 27 to November 1, followed by two more Tests in November.
