Is Ali Khan Out of IND vs USA T20 World Cup 2026 Match?

The United States of America are playing their first match of the T20 World Cup 2026 against the co-host India at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on February 7. USA skipper Monank Patel won the toss and decided to bowl first.

The decision surprisingly went into their favour as the Indian cricket team suffered a massive batting collapse in the powerplay. However, amidst a great bowling performance, the USA suffered a huge blow as their star pacer Ali Khan suffered an injury during the match and is now doubtful to continue to play in the IND vs USA T20 World Cup 2026 match.

Is Ali Khan Out of IND vs USA Match?

Fast bowler Ali Khan provided the first and most important breakthrough to his team by dismissing the best T20 batsman in the world, Abhishek Sharma, for a golden duck. The star pacer was quite economical in his two overs, conceding just 13 runs, while picking up a wicket as well. However, during the 16th over of the first innings, Ali sustained an injury while fielding.

India batter Axar Patel played a shot towards third man. The ball was running towards the boundary before Ali intervened and stopped the ball; however, during the effort, his knee got stuck in the surface as he landed awkwardly. The physio came for assistance immediately, and it looked like that he sustained a groin injury.

Surprisingly, the bowler came back to bowl the 18th over of the match, but he stopped in his delivery stride and walked off the field as he couldn't bear the pain. However, there aren't any reports of him being ruled out of the IND vs USA T20 World Cup 2026 match.

Ali Khan injury proved to be decisive in the end as India captain Suryakumar Yadav scored plenty of runs towards the end. It is believed that if USA needs him, he will walk out to bat; otherwise, he might not be risked.

USA Bowlers Wreak Havoc in Mumbai

USA's decision to bowl first surprised many fans and several cricket experts, who expected India to put up a huge total after batting first. But what came next wasn't expected by anyone as the Men in Blue lost their four wickets inside the powerplay on just 46 runs.

Right-arm pacer Shadley van Schalkwyk was the one who did most of the damage to India by removing some of the most dangerous batsmen in the world like Ishan Kishan, Tilak Varma, and Shivam Dube in a single over, breaking the back of the Indian batting lineup.

No other batters except Suryakumar Yadav could contribute enough to the scoreboard, thanks to a magnificent bowling performance from the USA bowlers, restricting the Men in Blue to just 161-9 in 20 overs.
