Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) have faced a massive injury scare ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026. Their star batter Angkrish Raghuvanshi faced a massive neck injury in the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy.

During the game between Mumbai and Uttarakhand at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur on Friday, December 26, Raghuvanshi hurt his neck. The top order batter attempted to take the catch but fell badly on his neck. Angkrish Raghuvanshi Vijay Hazare Trophy injury can prove to be fatal for him given this was just the start of the tournament. This will also put his IPL chances in jeopardy.

In the 30th over of Uttarakhand’s batting, Tanush Kotian was bowling to Saurabh Rawat. The batter played a slog-sweep that took a top edge and the ball went near the deep mid-wicket boundary, where Angkrish Raghuvanshi was stationed.

Raghuvanshi charged in and put in a great dive to take the catch. However, he fell awkwardly and struck his head on the turf. As a result, he was left in visible discomfort. Things didn’t look great as the medical team rushed out immediately to attend him.

Mumbai players also went to attend to him as he looked in unbearable pain. Ultimately, the Mumbai batter was stretchered off the field and taken to a nearby hospital for scans and further medical assessment. The official statement on Angkrish Raghuvanshi injury is yet to be released.

There was a delay in the arrival of the stretcher and the ambulance, and as a result, he looked in immense pain quite visibly. While Angkrish Raghuvanshi was struggling to move his neck and after the medical assessment, his actual condition will be known.

The right-hander has played 22 games in the IPL and has slammed 463 runs in the league at a strike rate of over 144. He has also hit two fifties and scored crucial runs for the team in important games. He has the potential to become one of the best batsmen in India in the future.

However, Raghuvanshi was given the clearance later from the hospital. According to the reports, he suffered a minor concussion but is now released and believed to be fit. It is a good news for KKR as they need not look for Angkrish Raghuvanshi replacement for the upcoming IPL season.
