The International Cricket Council (ICC) declared on September 19 that the Australian women's cricket team will be fined following their September 16 encounter against India in the second One Day International (ODI) in New Chandigarh. Australia suffered its worst run loss of the day on Wednesday, losing the second ODI by 102 runs.

It is not the performance that Australia are known for. They are probably the best cricket team in the world and have dominated women's cricket for a long time now. However the IND vs AUS 2nd ODI didn't go in their favor and it is a big warning call for them ahead of the ICC Women's World Cup.

Australia Slow Over Rate Suspension: World Champions Fined for Breaching Code of Conduct

Notably, Australia were fined for maintaining a slow over-rate. The Australian team were not able to finish their allotted overs on time, which led to this suspension. Despite allowing them some time concessions, the ICC confirmed that Australia was still two overs shy of the mark. Players who fall behind in an over are penalized 5% of their match fee, according to ICC regulations.

One of the match referees from the ICC's international panel, G.S. Lakshmi, made the decision. A formal hearing was not necessary since Australian captain Alyssa Healy accepted the punishment without protest. Three umpires Lauren Agenbag, Gayathri Venugopalan, and Vrinda Rathi and Janani Narayanan, who were on the field, lay the charge itself.

India's thrilling victory was the match's greater story, even with this penalty. Smriti Mandhana, who is one of the famous female cricketers of India, scored an incredible 117 runs off just 91 balls. India amassed 292 runs following her innings before getting knocked out in the 50th over.

Australia were only able to muster 190 runs in response before losing every wicket in 41 overs, allowing India to win by 102 runs. Kranti Goud was India's standout bowler, capturing three wickets for just 28 runs. With 2-40, including the crucial one of Tahlia McGrath, Deepti Sharma also contributed significantly.

India Aim To Win The Series

In the meanwhile, on Saturday, September 20, India will play Australia in the third One-Day International at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. Due to Jemimah Rodrigues' injury, Mandhana needs more help from the middle order. In the pivotal encounter, players like Richa Ghosh, Harmanpreet Kaur, and Harleen Deol will be expected to step up.

Kranti Gaud's disciplined bowling was a perfect match for Smriti Mandhana's outstanding batting display. By collecting three crucial wickets for just 28 runs, the rising fast bowler, who made her ODI debut earlier this year, kept up her impressive play. Her spell was essential to keeping India in control of the game and destroying Australia's middle order.

Both India and Australia are among the best cricket teams in the world. Australia must now recover as India celebrated one of their biggest ODI victories. Following an eight-wicket victory in the opening game of the three-game series, the series is currently level at 1-1. As a result, the final ODI in Delhi promises to be a thrilling encounter. If India wins the match, it will be a big moment in the country's women's cricket.
