BCCI Looks for New President As Roger Binny Set to Leave

Roger Binny is set to step down as the BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) President. He will turn 70 on July 19, 2025, and as per BCCI rules, 70 is the maximum age limit for holding office. So, Binny will have to vacate his post next month. Rajeev Shukla, the current Vice President of BCCI, is the likely person to replace him. He is expected to take over as the interim President for the next three months. Later, he may also become a permanent candidate for the top role.

Binny’s term saw India win the T20 World Cup 2024 and the Champions Trophy 2025. He also helped launch the Women’s Premier League (WPL), a revolutionary step for women’s cricket in India. Reportedly, Rajeev Shukla is set to take charge for three months as interim President. Whether he continues permanently or makes way for someone else will be revealed after the BCCI AGM in September. Rajeev Shukla Set To Become Interim BCCI President

Rajeev Shukla has been serving as BCCI Vice President since 2020. He has a long history with cricket administration. He was the chairman of the Indian Premier League (IPL) till 2018. He also worked as Secretary of the Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association (UPCA) until 2017.

Now, Shukla is expected to step in as interim President when Binny steps down in July. He will hold the position until the BCCI Annual General Meeting (AGM), which is likely to take place in September. After that, he could file his nomination to become the full-time BCCI President.

Rohan Jaitley is the son of the late finance minister Arun Jaitley. He is currently the President of the Delhi & District Cricket Association (DDCA). Since taking over DDCA, he has brought in several reforms, which bring him into contention for the role of the BCCI new president.
He is young, energetic, and keen to make a mark in cricket administration. His leadership has been praised by players and officials alike. Rohan Jaitley could be a surprise name in the race and could be the Roger Binny replacement for the role.
