How Many Matches Will Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma Play in Vijay Hazare Trophy?

After winning the three-match ODI series, India's veteran batter Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma went back to their family to spend some quality time. Kohli flew to London while Rohit remained in India, posting multiple pictures with his family. However, many fans and experts have been asking only one question: when will the two veterans be back on the field?

The answer is January 11, 2026, when the Indian cricket team will be up against the New Zealand cricket team for a three-match ODI series. But fans can watch their heroes on the field again, even before the New Zealand ODI series. India's very own domestic league, the iconic Vijay Hazare Trophy, is scheduled to kick off on December 24, and there are high chances of both the GOATS of cricket will take part in some of the matches.

What are New BCCI Rules for Indian Players?

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has made it strict for the Indian players who play in ODI and T20I formats to take part in at least two matches of the upcoming Vijay Hazare Trophy. It was also reported earlier that India's head coach Gautam Gambhir and chief selector Ajit Agarkar wanted Kohli and Rohit both to play in the Vijay Hazare Trophy; however, there were multiple rumours regarding their availability, but no official confirmation.

Since BCCI wants every limited-over player to feature in the domestic league, it's safe to say that the fans can now enjoy watching Virat Kohli in Vijay Hazare Trophy's upcoming season. Similarly, the fans will also witness Rohit Sharma in Vijay Hazare Trophy 2025-26. Kohli and Rohit will play in at least two Vijay Hazare Trophy matches ahead of the upcoming New Zealand T20I series.

Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma Back in Form

Despite being away from the cricket action for a long time, both Rohit and Kohli performed brilliantly in the recently concluded three-match ODI series against South Africa and showed why they are among the best ODI batsmen of all time. Kohli was the leading run-scorer in the series, scoring 302 runs in just three innings at an incredible average of 151, which includes two centuries and a half-century.

Rohit was also good in the series, scoring some valuable runs, including a 75-run knock in the third ODI. He smashed a century in Australia recently in October and has also worked a lot on his fitness. Now both these players will feature in the Vijay Hazare Trophy which will only help them to stay in form ahead of the key series.
