Bihar emerges as Ranji Trophy plate group champions

After dominating the Plate group last season, Bihar is now returning to the Ranji Trophy Elite division with a tougher set of opponents to face. Much of the spotlight will be on whether the fans get to watch teenage batting sensation Vaibhav Suryavanshi in Ranji Trophy, who recently became India's youngest-ever gold medalist at the Asian Games 2026 after the Indian cricket team defeated Pakistan in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan.

Bihar fans will be eager to watch him in red-ball action whenever his India commitments allow him to participate on the side. The team's schedule now features one of the strongest teams in domestic cricket, with matches against Uttar Pradesh, Baroda, Jammu & Kashmir, Vidarbha and other elite group A opponents. However, the 15-year-old batter's availability remains subject to his India commitments before fans expect him in a particular Ranji fixture.

Bihar Ranji Trophy Schedule 2026-27

Bihar's home matches for the 2026-27 season will be played at one of the biggest cricket stadiums in India, Rajgir International Cricket Stadium, hosting three matches from the schedule. The campaign begins with the match against Uttar Pradesh on October 11, followed by an away game against Baroda before Bihar returns to Rajgir in January for matches against Jammu & Kashmir and Vidarbha.

While Bihar do not have the services of Vaibhav Suryavanshi for the first two matches, he is likely to be available later. The left-hander's presence will be a confidence booster for the team even though he has a modest first-class record.
