After the victory, both left-handers came together in the press conference to talk about their personal struggles in international cricket, and what seemed to be Abhishek Sharma and Ishan Kishan fight was actually just fun banter between them.

After the T20 World Cup 2026 final, some of the best T20 batsmen in the world, Abhishek Sharma and Ishan Kishan, shared a funny moment during the post-match press conference after the IND vs NZ T20 World Cup final when both tried to answer the same question from a journalist.

The reporter asked about tough phases in life and how players deal with bad form or struggles in their careers. As soon as the question was asked, Abhishek picked up the microphone and said he believed he could answer it better, but Ishan Kishan quickly said that he could also give a good answer.

"I’ll answer that, because I’m struggling at the moment," Abhishek told the broadcasters. "Abhi, yours is of 1 month, mine was of 2 years so let me answer," Kishan intervened.
"One thing was very clear, which I wanted to share before as well, but today is the best day. The captain and coach had faith in me. Even I was doubting myself. I had never experienced this before; it was a tough tournament. I was just doing my process, trying to take it one game after another, but it wasn't easy. But I love this team because of the way they backed me," Abhishek said.

In a light-hearted exchange, Kishan said that Abhishek Sharma had only been out of form for about a month, while he himself had stayed away from the Indian team for almost two years. Abhishek replied jokingly that even that one month felt like a year and a half to him, but Kishan smiled and said it was still not as long as two years.

Abhishek later explained that the most important thing during a difficult time is the people around you, as supportive teammates, coaches, and friends help you stay confident even when you doubt yourself. Kishan also shared his thoughts and said that believing in yourself is very important because once a player starts doubting their ability, it creates pressure and affects performance.
