Australian cricketer Adam Zampa has dropped a massive statement on not playing in the Indian Premier League (IPL). He stated that playing in the Indian league doesn’t attract him as much money as he deserves.

Zampa is arguably one of the best T20 bowlers in the world. He has been one of the major reasons behind the success of Australia in white-ball cricket over the last decade.

However, one of the mysterious things that has kept everyone thinking is why he isn’t successful in the IPL. The leg-spinner has played 22 games in the league and has picked 31 wickets at an economy of over 8 and an average of over 21.

Zampa didn’t register for the IPL and instead went to play in the Pakistan Super League. The move caught the attention of many as quite a lot of players do the opposite and prefer playing IPL over PSL due to the former being the richest cricket league in the world.

Adam Zampa opened up about why he pulled out of the IPL, saying that for his skillset, he didn’t get the money in IPL that he deserved. He also highlighted how time-consuming IPL could be. Speaking on the ARY podcast, he said:

"I pulled out of the IPL this year. To be brutally honest, for someone with my skill set, I just don’t get the money that is there for other skill sets. And for the amount of time that the IPL takes, it just didn’t seem like a reasonable choice for me to keep playing it.”

Zampa also admitted that after the ICC T20 World Cup 2026, he wanted to have a break, but everything happened quickly and he is enjoying his time in the PSL.

“I was going to have a break, but PSL was on the radar about a month ago. It’s all happened pretty quickly, but I’m enjoying it,” he added.

Zampa is one of the few Australian cricketers in PSL this season. Apart from him, some of the other Australians taking part in the league are David Warner, Marnus Labuschagne, Ashton Turner, and Aaron Hardie.

Adam Zampa is having a decent time in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2026. The leg-spinner is part of Karachi Kings in the league and has helped his team win two out of their two games in the league.

The veteran spinner has featured in two games and has picked three wickets at an average of over 12. Going ahead, he would hold the key for his team in the league and would be keen to take them to a title win.
