The domestic season of Indian Cricket has finally begun. The season started with the Duleep Trophy 2025-26, which started on 28th August at the Board of Control for Cricket in India's (BCCI) Centre of Excellence. The tournament will see six teams based on the zone taking part in it. The domestic season of this year will run till February next year and will see quite a few tournaments taking place, including Ranji Trophy, Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 Trophy, and the Vijay Hazare Trophy, which will be played in a 50-over format later this year and next year.

Riyan Parag Set To Lead Assam Cricket Team in the KSCA Cricket Tournament
With the tournament around the corner, the Assam Cricket Team has announced the squad. The team will be captained by Riyan Parag, who is also leading the East Zone team in the first round of the Duleep Trophy 2025-26. He was named captain after Abhimanyu Easwaran was ruled out of the first match. Assam has named a 20-member squad for the tournament, which will be played in Bengaluru. A lot of youngsters and excited players have been added to the team, which also features experienced players in Danish Das, Swarupam Purkayastha, and Subhankar Roy.
The young talents of the team include Abhishek Thakuri, Mukund Hussain, Anurag Talukdar, and Amlanjyoti Das. They would be keen to make their mark in the tournament and prove their worth in the tournament, which will be played over a course of one month. The Assam team will be headed by Noel David, who will serve as the coach and manager, while Rajib Ranjanshree will be the physio, Bheshyam Pratap Singh the trainer, and Rajesh Sharma the video analyst. It will be another opportunity for Riyan Parag to make his mark as a captain. He recently captained the Rajasthan Royals (RR) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) when Sanju Samson was injured. He did a decent job with the bat as well as being the leader. Though he had a bad season as a captain, where he only won two out of eight matches with a win percentage of just 25% for the Rajasthan Royals in the IPL. He also took the leadership of the Assam Domestic Cricket team, where he took the team to the semi-finals in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, and he led the team for the Namibia tour, where Assam could only win two out of five matches.
