The 5th Test match between India and England ended on a magical note at the Kennington Oval, London. Mohammed Siraj bowled a beautiful delivery to dismiss Gus Atkinson and help India win the match by the narrowest margin of six runs. The victory was special because it helped in levelling the series 2-2 against England.

After the end of the series, head coach Gautam Gambhir and the chairman of selectors Ajit Agarkar are planning to take a big decision for the future of the Indian team. This decision can impact the cricket in the country and can pave the way for a huge change in the future.

Gautam Gambhir to End Indian Cricket Team Star Culture

According to PTI, Gautam Gambhir and Ajit Agarkar want to end the Indian cricket team star culture. While this decision isn't meant to target any players, but to form a sense of discipline in the team. Gambhir and Agarkar want to end the system of players picking and choosing games and series in the pretext of workload management. There is no further information on who they are targeting as of now.

"There have been discussions and the message will be sent across to the centrally contracted players, especially those who are all format regulars that this culture of picking and choosing games won't be entertained in near future," a senior BCCI official told PTI.

The decision to change Indian cricket star culture is not the case of selectors neglecting the genuine case of workload management. They just want to keep a check on the players who use it as an excuse.

"It doesn't mean that workload management will be thrown out of the window but a more objective approach is expected in near future. Obviously, fast bowlers' workload needs to be managed but it can't be accepted that in the name of workload management, people will miss crucial matches," added the source.

Recently, Jasprit Bumrah, who is among the best bowlers in the world currently, played just three Tests of the series against England despite not being injured. Bumrah has been injury-prone for some time now and the team management decided to manage his workload by playing him in all the games. Bumrah suffered an injury during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy earlier this year and was advised to manage his worlkoad since then.
