However, just a day after Ireland's win, their head coach Heinrich Malan has resigned from his role. This news comes as a shock for the Irish cricket fans as they were looking for a new start to their journey.

Heinrich Malan Resign As Ireland Head Coach

Heinrich Malan resignation has come when the team is busy celebrating its historic win over India. However, he wants to move into another direction in his career now. He recalled the fond memories, including the wins over big teams.

“On the field, we can look back with great pride on our historic T20 World Cup victory against England in Melbourne, our first-ever Test victory against Afghanistan in Abu Dhabi, the first home Test win vs Zimbabwe in Belfast, the historic T20 series win at home vs India and beating Pakistan, West Indies, South Africa as well as direct qualifications for T20 WC’s through our consistent ability to challenge and beat the world’s top teams.

Heinrich Malan head coach tenure was a mixed one for the Ireland cricket team. While the team failed to make any massive progress in ICC tournaments, there were several memorable wins over England, Pakistan, West Indies, and most recently India.

Who is the New Ireland Coach?

With Heinrich Malan stepping down after the IND vs IRE T20I series, former Ireland wicketkeeper Gary Wilson has taken over as the team's new head coach. He is the first-ever Irish born coach of Ireland men's cricket team in more than 30 years.

Wilson has served as Ireland's assistant coach in 2022 and has been connected with the team despite retiring in 2020. The former Irish wicketkeeper has a big task on his hands as he prepares the team for the 2027 ODI World Cup.
