WTC Prize Money 2025: How Much Will Australia, South Africa, and India Earn?

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has recently announced the WTC prize money for the World Test Championship 2023-25 cycle. The total prize pool is a huge sum of USD 5.76 million (₹49.27 crore). This is much more than what was offered in the last WTC cycle of 2021-2023. Notably, the final of the WTC 2023-25 will be played at The Lord’s in London from June 11 to 15 between Australia and South Africa.

The ICC stated that the winner of the final will get USD 3.6 million. This is a big rise from the USD 1.6 million given in the 2021 and 2023 finals. The runner-up will earn USD 2.16 million. Earlier, the second-place team got only USD 800,000. “This increase shows our commitment to Test cricket,” the ICC said in a statement. ICC Chairman Jay Shah shared the news on social media. He posted, “It’s exciting to announce that the winner of the #WTC25 Final between South Africa and Australia will earn $3.6M, with the runner-up to receive $2.1M.” He added that the increase in WTC prize money shows how much importance is being given to Test cricket.

WTC Finalists: Australia and South Africa

Australia made it to the final after beating India 3-1 in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25. This series win helped them move up in the WTC standings. Meanwhile, South Africa became the first team to qualify for the final. They earned their spot after winning a series against Pakistan, the West Indies, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka. They also ended their series against India in a draw.

WTC Final Prize Money 2025

The winners of the WTC Final 2025 will receive USD $3.6 million (around ₹29.88 crore), which is more than double the $1.6 million (₹13.28 crore) given in 2021 and 2023. The runners-up will get USD $2.16 million (about ₹17.93 crore), up from $800,000 (₹6.64 crore) in previous finals.

WTC Prize Money for Other Teams

India, who finished third in the World Test Championship 2023-25 cycle, will receive USD 1.44 million as the second runners-up. New Zealand secured the fourth position and will take home USD 1.2 million. England, who ended the fifth-place cycle, will be awarded USD 960,000. The prize money reflects the teams’ standings at the end of the WTC league stage.

With the ICC increasing the overall prize pool, teams that didn’t reach the final are still being rewarded handsomely for their performances throughout the tournament, encouraging continued commitment to Test cricket across all participating nations.
