ICC Punishes These Cricketers Following Heated IND vs PAK Asia Cup Clash

The India vs Pakistan match on September 14 in the Asia Cup 2025 group stage brought in a lot of controversies. Suryakumar Yadav and Co. refused to shake hands with the Pakistan players, taking a firm stand for the Pahalgam attack victims.

In the Super Four, when the arch-rivals met again, Pakistan's Haris Rauf and Sahibzada Farhan made some gestures which didn't sit well with the viewers and cricket pundits. Keeping everything in mind, the ICC has decided to punish Suryakumar Yadav, Haris Rauf and Sahibzada Farhan for their actions.

Suryakumar Yadav Fined By ICC

After understanding the matter carefully, the International Cricket Council (ICC) has decided to punish Suryakumar Yadav, Haris Rauf, and Sahibzada Farhan for breaching ICC Code of Conduct during the Asia Cup 2025.

On September 14, Suryakumar Yadav and Co. refrained from shaking hands with the Pakistan players and when asked about it, captain revealed their stand regarding the Pahalgam attack and this was their way of showing solidarity towards the victims. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) didn't take the matter lightly and made a complaint against Suryakumar Yadav for giving statements related to war at the post match presentation.

On September 26, the ICC went through the matter and found Yadav guilty of breaching ICC Code of Conduct. According to TOI, Suryakumar Yadav has been fined 30% of his match fees. He was also asked to refrain from making political statements in the future. Suryakumar, one of the best T20 batsmen in the world is key to India's chances in the upcoming final.

Is Haris Rauf Banned?

Similarly, Haris Rauf and Sahibzada Farhan made inappropriate gestures related to the war that happened between India and Pakistan back in April 2025. While Rauf showed 6-0 sign to the audience standing near the boundaries, Farhan made the gun celebration after scoring his half-century in the Super Four match against India.

As a result, the BCCI filed a formal complaint against both players. The similar report suggests that Haris Rauf has also been fined like Suryakumar Yadav. Meanwhile, ICC has not given any official statement regarding the punishments. Haris Rauf ban would have been a big blow to Pakistan as he is among their best bowlers. At the same time, Farhan has been in good form with the bat for Pakistan.
