India have announced their updated team for the final Test match of the series against England. The fifth Test will take place at The Oval in London from July 31 to August 4, 2025. There are some forced changes in the India squad 5th Test, including the absence of key players. Wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant has been ruled out of the fifth Test after he suffered a right foot fracture while batting on Day 1 of the fourth Test in Manchester. Though he came back to bat on Day 2 and scored 54 runs, he did not keep wickets for the rest of the game.

Apart from Pant, there are also questions over Jasprit Bumrah's availability. Bumrah has already played three out of four Tests so far and with him being injury-prone, there are high chances that he might not play at The Oval. With most of the players tired after an intriguing fourth Test, it will be interesting to see the new India squad 5th Test.

The BCCI confirmed that Pant will need six weeks of rest to recover fully. The injury means Pant will miss the final match of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy. The selectors have named Tamil Nadu’s wicketkeeper-batter Narayan Jagadeesan in the squad. Notably, this is his first-ever Test call-up. He will fly to London but is expected to serve as a backup. Dhruv Jurel will likely be India’s main wicketkeeper in the fifth Test.

Jasprit Bumrah Unlikely To Play at The Oval

Jasprit Bumrah was expected to play only three Tests in this series as part of workload management. He has already played three matches, and reports suggest he might be rested for the final game. However, India's head coach Gautam Gambhir recently made it clear that all the fast bowlers are fit, but didn't rule out Bumrah's unavailability for the Oval.

Akash Deep is most likely to replace Bumrah in the India squad 5th Test against England if he doesn't play. Deep played in the second Test and took 10 wickets but missed the fourth Test due to a groin injury. However, he is now fit and will be available for selection.

In the fourth Test, India played Shardul Thakur and Anshul Kamboj. However, both failed to impress. This could open the door for Kuldeep Yadav and Arshdeep Singh. Kuldeep is a left-arm wrist spinner and last played a Test over nine months ago. Arshdeep Singh, a left-arm pacer, could get his maiden Test cap. He missed the previous match due to an injury in practice but has now recovered.

Probable India Playing XI for 5th Test

According to the reports in TOI, there will be a few changes in the lineup after the 4th Test, both tactical and forced. Dhruv Jurel shall be the only change in the batting lineup, replacing injured Rishabh Pant. While the major changes will occur in the bowling line-up, as Kuldeep Yadav, Akash Deep seem to be in the mix and might make it to the playing 11.

The call over Bumrah's fitness will be taken over the next 24 hours. Arshdeep Singh is all set to make his Test debut at the Oval, as the chances of Anshul Kamboj retaining his place are significantly low after an underwhelming debut game. India will be looking to have a line-up which can take 20 wickets as they will be looking to win this game at all costs. So, there is a lot to play for, as the series is on the line. Here is how India’s likely playing XI for the final Test at The Oval could be:

Yashasvi Jaiswal, KL Rahul, Sai Sudharsan, Shubman Gill (C), Ravindra Jadeja, Washington Sundar, Dhruv Jurel (WK), Kuldeep Yadav, Arshdeep Singh, Akash Deep, Mohammed Siraj.
