I’ve become a commentator now. Broadcasting is new for me, but I enjoy it. For the last six months, I have been doing

 commentary. I even did it during the Champions Trophy in February-March. But I took a short break to umpire the Ranji Trophy final.

Anil Chaudhary had a long and successful umpiring career. He officiated in 131 IPL matches, a record he shares with fellow Indian umpire S Ravi. He also stood in 12 Test matches, 49 One Day Internationals, and 64 T20 Internationals. He is one of only four Indian umpires to have officiated in over 100 international men’s matches. His final match as an umpire was the 2024-25 Ranji Trophy final.

It was played between Vidarbha and Kerala in Nagpur. Interestingly, his international career both started and ended with India vs Australia matches. His Test debut came during the pandemic, in the India vs England Test in Chennai, under the ICC’s special home umpire rule. Now, at 60 years of age, Chaudhary is starting a new chapter.
