IPL Champions, Sunrisers Hyderabad, is also owned by Kavya Maran under the Sun TV Network Company. What is Northern Superchargers New Name?

Northern Superchargers, Kavya Maran team in Hundred, has undergone a name change as the Northern Superchargers name change to Sunrisers Leeds. This new name change, ahead of The Hundred 2026, is done to bring a single brand identity of Sunrisers across the world as part of Sun TV Network. The company was supposed to change the name of this franchise team, as they did with their team in SA20, Sunrisers Eastern Cape.

The team was looking forward to the option of two names, i.e., Sunrisers Leeds and Northern Super Sunrisers, where they went on to choose Sunrisers Leeds, which will match the name of the team in other leagues like Sunrisers Hyderabad.

According to reports, the Sun TV Network had informed the same information to the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) and the National Stock Exchange (NSE), in compliance with SEBI regulations. Northern Superchargers new name has only come after the IPL Franchises' owners have gotten into the UK market and gotten a stake in the teams of The Hundred. Northern Superchargers have not won a single title of The Hundred, and with the new name, Sunrisers Leeds, they would be looking forward to bringing in more luck towards winning the title.

Are the Other Hundred Teams Planning to Change the Name Too?

There are a couple of more teams in The Hundred who are owned by IPL franchise owners, which include Manchester Originals, owned by LSG owner Sanjiv Goenka, and Oval Invincibles, owned by the Mumbai Indians. This ownership in the UK-based league comes after the league allowed others to invest in the team and co-own.

However, both Lucknow Super Giants and Mumbai Indians have also built a brand across the richest cricket leagues in the world and have spread their brand with franchise teams. Lucknow Super Giants has a team, Durban Super Giants, in the SA20 league apart from this. On the other hand Mumbai Indians have become a global brand with teams Mumbai Indians and Mumbai Indians Women in IPL and WPL, the MI Cape Town in SA20, the MI Emirates in ILT20, and the MI New York in MLC.

The teams Manchester Originals and Oval Invincibles are most likely to change their name as per the brand name of the franchise, which will create a single global identity in the world of cricket. Manchester Originals is likely to be renamed as Manchester Super Giants, whereas Oval Invincibles will be renamed as MI London in the near future.
