South Africa Prepare for Clean Sweep Over India, Add New Bowler to Their Squad

South Africa are gearing up for a crucial Test match against India that is scheduled to start from November 22 in Guwahati. All eyes are on the Indian team after losing the first Test in Kolkata. The Proteas have a solid team and will be looking forward to whitewashing the 2-match series against India. Captain Temba Bavuma's stellar knock in the previous knock paved way for the victory in the previous game.

While the Proteas are dealing with Kagiso Rabada injury, they have added another star player, Lungi Ngidi, to the squad ahead of the last Test. Rabada sustained a rib injury before the start of the Kolkata Test and subsequently missed the game.

Lungi Ngidi Added to South Africa Squad

The Proteas have taken a smart step and added the veteran fast bowler Lungi Ngidi to their squad for the final Test match. With this addition, South Africa squad for India Test series has another brilliant bowler who can trouble the home team. Ngidi last played for South Africa in the WTC Final vs Australia in June 2025, which they went on to win.

Adding Ngidi to the squad is a great move as he adds depth and stability to the bowling attack. Rabada's unavailability is a huge matter of concern for South Africa as he is one of the best Test bowlers in the world. But even without his support, they managed to win the first match. It shows the team's strength and confidence on themselves.

It will be interesting to see if the visitors' make any changes to the playing XI since they have added Ngidi. The pacer has played in 20 matches and taken 58 wickets. Hence, adding him to the team will add a new dimension to this bowling attack.

Shubman Gill to Travel with Indian Team for 2nd Test

India's captain Shubman Gill sustained a neck spasm during the first Test and had to miss the rest of the game. The skipper walked out to the middle and looked in good form as he hit a boundary on the second ball. However, he couldn't continue batting due to the visible pain in his neck and had to walk back to the pavilion.

Gill's absence did hurt his team as India missed an in-form batter. Gill has been arguably one of the best Test batsmen over he last few months. Despite his injury, the Indian captain will travel with the team to Guwahati, which is the venue for the second Test but his participation is still not certain. As per sources, Gill's participation in the last match, scheduled to be played from November 22, will be decided a day before.

“That was the original plan and there is no change as of now - Gill will travel. Barring a last-minute change, he should be in Guwahati. There were suggestions that he fly to Mumbai for an expert opinion, but that plan was dropped,” said a source as quoted by Cricbuzz.

Meanwhile, the selectors have included the all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy to the squad. He has already joined the team in Kolkata and will travel to Guwahati. The Indian team will leave for the second match on Wednesday.
