According to Geo News, both Mohammad Rizwan and Imam-ul-Haq have been issued call-up notices by the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA), which will be part of the investigation, followed by data retrieved from their mobile phones. The notice issued by the NCCIA states that both cricketers have to appear at its Lahore office on September 11, 2026.

The investigation will be focused on alleged dressing-room leaks during Pakistan's ongoing series against England; it is also likely that both cricketers will be asked to unlock their mobile phones and cooperate throughout the inquiry. The speculations about Mohammad Rizwan and Imam-ul-Haq match-fixing come after the incident during the Test series, especially when Imam's injury looked fake and questions arising against Rizwan's overall performance.

During Pakistan's 2026 Test series in England, Mohammad Rizwan and Imam-ul-Haq were sent back home early by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) after the team lost the first two Tests in a disappointing series, as Pakistan were playing a Test series against one of the best cricket teams in the world. Rizwan scored just 61 runs in four innings at an average of 15.25, while Imam managed only 42 runs in two innings before suffering a calf injury during the Lord's Test. Apart from their poor performances, reports also claimed there were concerns over team discipline and questions about Imam's fitness.
