Ali Khan Tareen, the owner of the Multan Sultans, has accused the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) of keeping his team out of important valuation and renewal talks, which has taken a new turn in their current dispute. Tareen, the owner of Multan Sultan, and the Pakistan Cricket Board's PSL wing had a long-standing disagreement that came to light when Tareen openly criticized the league before its tenth edition. He had claimed that the PCB's administration lacked clarity and openness.
Multan Sultans Owner Threatened to Sue PCB Over PSL Renewal

The ongoing dispute between Multan Sultans owner Ali Khan Tareen and the Pakistan Cricket Board and its management. Ali Khan posted a video last month in which he was seen as a franchise owner receiving and then tearing up a legal notice that was issued to him. Because of his reputation as an outspoken critic of the PSL's management, he has received a lot of attention as he works to improve the league in several areas where it appears to fall behind the richest cricket leagues in the world.
Ali Khan Tareen Criticizes PCB
As a result of this criticism, he has been criticized for months, and the Pakistan Cricket Board's PSL committee had threatened to blacklist him earlier this year if he did not apologize publicly. Rather than apologize, Tareen taunted the Pakistan Cricket Board's management with a sarcastic video, where he apologized for ‘wanting to make PSL better.’
He disclosed that the Pakistan Cricket Board has declined to interact with people who have asked why this isn't being addressed behind closed doors. Finally, he threatened to take legal action if the ghosting continued. The statement reads,
For those asking why this is not being handled behind closed doors, it is simply because the PSL Management refuses to engage with us. If this ghosting continues, we will have no choice but to take legal action. Which is the absolute last thing we want to do. This entire situation is so unnecessary and could have easily been solved over tea and biscuits. But fragile egos make simple things difficult.
The PSL had warned Tareen that his ownership would be suspended, and he stated in his previous video that he hoped for open discussions between franchises and the league to streamline this process. As a result, he did not hold back from expressing his disagreement with the PSL following his latest revelations.
PSL Teams Get 25% Boost
The upcoming season of the PSL is likely to occur in April-May. In the meantime, some franchises revealed they have 10 days to respond to renewal offers. Every franchise will need to think about paying the higher yearly franchise cost, which is at least 25% more than what they previously paid. According to the Pakistan Cricket Board, potential owners can name their new teams after cities. The PCB will add two new teams and name them after Hyderabad, Sialkot, Muzaffarabad, Faisalabad, Gilgit, or Rawalpindi. This will give an opportunity to more players to be part of one of the biggest cricket leagues in the world.
