Bangladesh Women clashed against Sri Lanka Women’s Team in the white-ball series, which included three ODIs as well as three T20Is. The series between the two teams concluded on Saturday with the final T20I in Sylhet, which has one of the most beautiful cricket stadiums in the world.
Bangladesh Captain Punished By ICC For Breaching Rules

Sri Lanka completed a successful whitewash in the three-match T20I series as the home side came up with an under-par performance in all three games. This has put the Bangladesh captain Nigar Sultana under massive scanner, especially with her side managing just one win throughout ODIs and T20Is.
While her performances have come under massive scrutiny, Nigar Sultana has found herself in more trouble. Bangladesh captain has been penalised by the International Cricket Council (ICC) for breaching their code of conduct.
Nigar Sultana Fined By ICC For Breaching Rules
Nigar Sultana Joty has been handed an official reprimand for breaching Level 1 of the ICC Code of Conduct. This came after her antics during the third T20I against Sri Lanka in Sylhet came under the spotlight and caught the attention of the umpires.
After getting dismissed, Nigar Sultana, one of the best women cricketers, threw her bat onto the ground before departing. This didn’t go well with the umpires as they accused her of breaching Article 2.2 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel.
This law, which involves the breach of ICC Code of Conduct for equipment is related to “abuse of cricket equipment or clothing, ground equipment or fixtures and fittings during an International Match.” Not only this, but the Bangladesh captain was also handed one demerit point as well for her antics.
The Bangladesh skipper admitted the offence and accepted the sanction proposed by the Match Referees. On-field umpires Eloise Sheridan and Shathira Jakir Jesy, third umpire Rokeya Sultana and fourth umpire Champa Chakma levelled the charge.
Notably, Level 1 breaches carry a minimum penalty of an official reprimand, a maximum penalty of 50 per cent of a player’s match fee, and one or two demerit points.
Nigar Sultana Fails To Make a Mark
Apart from the Nigar Sultana ICC code of conduct breach, the Bangladesh captain flopped completely with the bat in the T20Is against Sri Lanka. In the three games that she played during the BAN-W vs SL-W series, she managed 20 runs at an average of around 6.
Along with her captaincy, her batting also coped with a lot of criticism. With Bangladesh losing both ODIs and T20Is against Sri Lanka, there might be a big chance that the BCB will take strict action against Nigar and appoint a new skipper.
