Shaw is arguably one of the most gifted openers coming from the country but hasn't done justice to his talent. Coming to his personal life, he got engaged in a private ceremony. Ahead of the upcoming season, he spoke about his wedding during a press conference organised by Delhi Capitals.

DC's top order batter Prithvi Shaw recently announced his engagement to his long-time girlfriend Akriti Agarwal on March 8, 2026, by sharing their pictures from the engagement ceremony on social media. During the press conference, a question popped up through the journalists regarding Prithvi Shaw marriage to which he replied, “Abhi engagement hui hai abhi to nhi but jaise hi out hogi aapko pata chal jayega [The engagement has just happened. Not right now, but as soon as it (wedding date) is out, you will get to know].”

Despite speculations regarding his marriage, Shaw, one of the best batsmen in India, is currently focusing on utilising the opportunity he has received to represent the Delhi Capitals once again. Interestingly, he went unsold during the IPL 2025 auction due to fitness issues.

The contest will be between Sri Lankan batter Pathum Nissanka and Prithvi Shaw. If we talk about the current form of both the batters, Nissanka has an advantage as he was a part of Sri Lanka's T20I squad and also played in the recently-concluded ICC T20 World Cup 2026, where he smashed a magnificent hundred against Australia. However, Shaw is likely to get his chances in this league at some time.
