India’s star all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja gave a phenomenal performance on Day 2 of the second Test against England at Edgbaston, Birmingham. However, on the same day, he was caught in trouble for breaking one of the latest rules set by the BCCI.

According to the reports, Jadeja went to the ground on Day 2 of the IND vs ENG 2nd Test by himself instead of going with the team. This is because he wanted to get used to the conditions where he was supposed to bat. The move worked well for the all-rounder, and he played a vital knock under pressure.

What about Ravindra Jadeja BCCI Punishment?

Even though Ravindra Jadeja rule break was a major one, there will be no punishment for him. This is because he broke the rule for the right reason, which was to help his team. The all-rounder showed his dedication, which is the reason why he went early into the ground. Hence, there will be no Ravindra Jadeja BCCI punishment.

Ravindra Jadeja started the day on 41 runs. His partnership with Shubman Gill had reached 99 runs. But the new ball was still fresh, and England’s bowlers looked lethal. Jadeja said he felt it was important to come early and hit a few balls before going out to bat.
“Somewhere I felt that I should go and bat extra because the ball was still new,” Jadeja said. “If I can see off the new ball, it will get easier for the rest of the innings.”
Meanwhile, Jadeja’s plan worked beautifully as he batted till lunch and played a key role in building a strong total for India. He went on to score a valuable 89 off 137 balls, which included 10 fours and 1 six. It turned out to be the second-highest score in this innings. His partnership of 203 runs with Gill was key in taking India to a safe position.

What are BCCI Rules for Team India Players?

Notably, The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) had set new Standard Operating Procedures (SoPs) after the Australia tour 2025. One important rule is that no player is allowed to travel to or from the stadium alone. All players must travel together in the team bus. This rule was introduced to boost bonding among teammates after India’s miserable loss in the Border Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25.
But on Thursday, Ravindra Jadeja came to the ground on his own. He came early before the team bus arrived. He wanted to get some extra practice before resuming his innings. Jadeja was not trying to break rules for fun. He wanted to prepare better for the match.

Ravindra Jadeja Partnership with Shubman Gill

Jadeja added 203 runs with Shubman Gill for the sixth wicket. This helped India go past 500 runs in the first innings. It was a much-needed recovery after India had once again collapsed early, as they were 211 for 5 on a flat pitch.

“When you contribute with the bat, it always feels great,” Ravindra Jadeja said. “When you are playing outside India, it becomes more important.” He added that he took it as a challenge to stick around and build a big partnership. “It gives you confidence that you can contribute in the upcoming matches too.”
Jadeja eventually got out for 89 runs. He was close to a century but was dismissed on a sharp delivery by Josh Tongue. Even though he couldn’t complete his fifty-sword celebration, his knock was very important.
