Sanju Samson Breaks Virat Kohli Record

The T20 World Cup 2026 final match is going on between New Zealand and India at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad. The Kiwis won the toss and invited India to bat first. Skipper Suryakumar Yadav looked happy with the decision as they were looking to bat first as well.

When Abhishek Sharma and Sanju Samson came out to bat, they wreaked havoc on the New Zealand bowlers. Abhishek went on to score a half-century but it was Samson who got the spotlight for breaking a massive record in the T20 World Cup 2026.

Sanju Samson Breaks Virat Kohli Record in T20 World Cup Final

India's opening batter Sanju Samson went on to break Virat Kohli's record in the ongoing World Cup. In 2014, Kohli scored 319 runs and became the highest run-scorer in the T20 World Cup history in a single edition.

This season, Samson played six innings and broke Kohli's record. He scored 321 runs in this edition at an average of 80.25, including three back-to-back half-centuries. Samson scored 89 runs against New Zealand in the IND vs NZ final 2026.

Samson is now second on the list of most runs in single T20 World Cup edition. He is just behind Pakistan's Sahibzada Farhan, the highest run-scorer of this edition's ICC T20 World Cup.
