Zimbabwe’s domestic first-division cricket saw an extraordinary match, as Scorpions Cricket Club delivered one of the most ruthless batting displays ever witnessed in the format. In a 50-over contest against Methane Lions, Scorpions piled up 822/4, a total that seemed almost unreal for a single innings.

The margin of victory made the encounter even more unbelievable. Methane Lions collapsed for just 28/7 during the chase, leaving Scorpions to seal a 794-run victory in a game completely dominated from start to finish. After calling correctly at the toss, Scorpions skipper Praise Makaza chose to bat first.

Leading the batting assault was Winfed Mutende, who produced a sensational innings of 203 runs from only 75 deliveries. Batting at an astonishing strike rate of 270.67, Mutende smashed 23 boundaries along with 13 sixes.

The unbelievable Scorpions cricket club Zimbabwe 822 scorecard was headlined by a phenomenal knock from Takunda Madembo, who blasted 302 runs off just 143 balls. His innings featured 50 fours and seven sixes before he eventually retired out.

Despite the surface appearing perfect for batting in the first innings, Methane Lions struggled completely during the chase, slipping to 28/7 and suffering a massive 794-run loss. Among officially recognised List A records, the highest 50-over total still belongs to Bihar, who recorded 574/6 against Arunachal Pradesh in the Vijay Hazare Trophy clash at Ranchi.

The innings was headed by a sensational 190-run knock from one of the best batsmen in India, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, in only 84 deliveries. Historically, crossing the 500-run barrier in limited-overs cricket has been an extremely rare feat. Tamil Nadu achieved it with a 506/2 against Arunachal Pradesh in 2022, while one of the best cricket teams in the world, England, rewrote ODI record books the same year after smashing 498/4 against the Netherlands.
