Shubman Gill Gets Wimbledon Invite: How Much Does Royal Box Cost?

After experiencing the thrill of Formula 1 at Silverstone, the India Test and ODI captain, and one of the best batsmen in India, Shubman Gill, has now received one of sport's most exclusive invitations, a seat in Wimbledon’s iconic Royal Box.

The honour places Gill alongside some of India's biggest names, which shows his growing stature as one of the country's most recognisable sporting personalities. The invitation comes just days before Shubman Gill returns to competitive action in India's ODI series against England.

How Much Does a Seat in Wimbledon Royal Box Cost?

According to reports, there is no ticket price for the Royal Box because the seats are not available for public purchase. Unlike Centre Court tickets or Wimbledon debentures, entry to the Royal Box is strictly by invitation from the Chair of the All England Lawn Tennis Club (AELTC), currently Deborah Jevans.

Although the invitation is free, a few reports also estimate the overall Wimbledon Royal Box ticket price to be worth several thousand pounds. Guests receive premium Centre Court seating along with access to an exclusive lunch inside the Clubhouse, traditional Wimbledon afternoon tea, post-match refreshments and VIP hospitality throughout the day.

Shubman Gill Joins Elite Indian Cricket Company at Wimbledon

Shubman Gill Wimbledon invite makes him only the fourth Indian captain to receive an invitation to watch Wimbledon from the prestigious Royal Box, following in the footsteps of Sachin Tendulkar, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma. The Royal Box, located on Centre Court, is reserved for distinguished guests from the worlds of sport, entertainment, politics and royalty, making it one of the highest honours for visiting athletes at The Championships.

The 26-year-old has enjoyed a memorable sporting tour of England away from cricket as well. Earlier this week, Gill attended his maiden Formula 1 race as a VIP guest at the British Grand Prix at Silverstone. He was given access to the paddock, interacted with members of the Formula 1 fraternity and witnessed one of motorsport's biggest events from close quarters.

Gill's appearance at two of Britain's most iconic sporting events speaks volumes about his growing global profile. Talking about Wimbledon, the tournament has come to its closing stage with semi-finals to be played today, with one of the games featuring the young sensation Jannik Sinner and the veteran Novak Djokovic.

When Will Shubman Gill Return to Cricketing Action?

The celebrations, however, will soon give way to cricketing responsibilities. Gill will lead India in the three-match ODI series against England beginning on July 14 at Edgbaston, followed by matches in Cardiff on July 16 and at Lord's on July 19. The Men in Blue are currently in action in a five-match T20I series, which they have already lost 3-0 with one match still left to play.

Meanwhile, the ODI squad will see some experienced names such as Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Jasprit Bumrah and KL Rahul, which will provide India a strong blend of youth and experience. Although the 2027 ODI World Cup is still over a year away, every bilateral series carries added significance as India looks to build a settled combination.
