This move raised eyebrows since the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has an exclusive sponsorship agreement with Adidas. In this case, Nike is a direct competitor, putting the Board in huge trouble. Back in 2023, BCCI signed a five-year contract with Adidas for the cricket contracts across formats and age groups. “Adidas will be the sole supplier for all match, training & travel wear for the BCCI – including the men's, women's & youth teams,” read the Board's statement back in 2023.

While this move caught the eyes of the really fast, they started questioning whether the young captain had breached the BCCI’s commercial obligations. The Nike Logo on his chest was clearly visible when he came forward to declare the innings from the balcony, which could land Gill in legal trouble.

While there is no official news regarding what actions the Board will take against the player, there is a chance that they might put the player in legal trouble for his actions. This will happen only if the brand reaches out to the Board with a legal notice.

KL Rahul scored 55 runs, Rishabh Pant scored 65 runs, and Ravindra Jadeja scored 69 runs in the second innings. Their contributions were invaluable.

While chasing such a huge total, the English batters fell short of 336 runs. Despite Jamie Smith's 88 runs off 99 balls, no other batter could perform, which became the main reason behind their defeat. On the other hand, Indian bowlers did pretty well in the absence of Jasprit Bumrah. In the second innings, Akash Deep claimed a six-wicket haul, helping India win the IND vs ENG 2nd Test.
