Key Traits of the Petition

A petition was filed, questioning the sense behind organising a cricket match with Pakistan so soon after the Pahalgam terror attack and Operation Sindoor, events where Indian civilians and soldiers lost their lives. The argument was simple but powerful: holding a friendly on the pitch while real heroes are being laid to rest off it doesn’t sit right with national pride or public sentiment.

The petitioners made it clear that playing sports with a country that gives shelter to terrorism sends the wrong message, hurts the morale of our Armed Forces, and reopens wounds for the families who have lost loved ones. Despite the urgency, the court decided not to hear the matter immediately, leaving this debate hanging in the air. They have given a green signal for the match in the UAE.

India Thrash UAE in Their Asia Cup 2025 Opener

Suryakumar Yadav and co. crushed aside UAE in their Asia Cup 2025 opener by 9 wickets, without breaking a sweat. India opted to field first in the game and skittled out the hosts for a paltry score of 57 runs. In response, Abhishek Sharma and Shubman Gill, had a fiery start in the Powerplay and helped India chase down the total in just 4.3 overs.

India lost one wicket during their chase and Suryakumar Yadav came in at No. 3 to finish the job. The match highlighted India's strength and also the gulf in quality between the two sides in the competition. The UAE were a no match in front of India, one of the best cricket teams in the world, and that was evidently visible during the course of the match. India next cross swords with Pakistan on 14th September 2025, in what promises to be a riveting contest.
