After this result, the positions of the head coach Gautam Gambhir and the captain Shreyas Iyer are in danger. There are reports claiming about tensions between Gambhir and Iyer after India series loss to Ireland.

Does Gautam Gambhir Shreyas Iyer Tension Exist?

According to Cricblogger, captain Shreyas Iyer doesn't have much say in the team selections. It is Gautam Gambhir who decides whether India will bat or bowl first if they win the toss. This has raised concerns over Gautam Gambhir Shreyas Iyer rift inside the Indian dressing room.

Talking about Vaibhav Suryavanshi's potential debut, these reports claim that it was Gambhir who decided not to give the youngster his debut during this series as he preferred Abhishek Sharma and Sanju Samson.

Suryavanshi, seen as the future of Indian cricket, was expected to make his India debut against Ireland, however, he didn't play any game as the team management preferred Samson and Abhishek, two of the best T20 batsmen, at the top. Abhishek scored a 19-ball 50 in the first match but Samson failed miserably in both the matches.

Gautam Gambhir Not in Favor of Shreyas Iyer As Captain

These reports also claim that Gambhir was not in favor of having Shreyas Iyer as India's T20I captain. Instead, he was preferring Sanju Samson or Ishan Kishan for the role. Both of these were the contenders for India's T20I captaincy when Iyer's name was not officially announced.
However, it is the selectors' decision to pick a captain and Gambhir had no option but to stick with Shreyas as India's next T20I captain. Iyer's captaincy era hasn't started well with this loss and he will be under pressure for the next series.

His next assignment will be the T20I series against England, starting July 1. After having lost the Ireland series, both Gambhir and Iyer will be looking for a comeback.
