Apart from being one of the best batsmen in India, Tilak is also one of the prominent players emerging from Hyderabad and has also led them in domestic cricket. However, the talented cricketer is all set to miss the upcoming season of Telangana T20 League, which will begin from June 21.

Why is Tilak Varma Not Playing Telangana T20 League?

Tilak Varma will not play the Telangana T20 League 2026 as he will be busy with his international commitments. The left-handed batter is a part of India's T20I squad for the tour of Ireland and England, where he is also the vice-captain.

Tilak is currently in Sri Lanka playing the A-team tri-series. Under his leadership, India A have qualified for the final, to be played on June 21. After the final, Tilak, alongside his India A teammate Vaibhav Suryavanshi, will assemble in Chennai on June 22 to link up with the senior squad that will travel to Ireland.

The Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) would have liked Tilak to play the inaugural season of TG20 League, however, it won't be possible. His presence would have added more star-power to this league, which is looking to grow.

Is Tilak Varma Playing Telangana T20 League 2026?

Not just the start, Tilak is also likely to miss the entire season of Telangana T20 League. This is because of the scheduling of Ireland and England tours. The Ireland tour will be played from June 26-28 while the England tour will begin on July 1.

By the time India tour of England 2026 ends, the TG20 League will already be completed. This leaves no room for Tilak Varma to play the inaugural edition of Telangana T20 League.

Tilak is one of the best T20 batsmen going around and even played a key role in India's T20 World Cup win this year. Tilak Varma TG20 League absence is not a good news for the local fans who were looking to catch a glimpse of their favorite superstar.
