Titas Sadhu injury

Gujarat Giants have suffered a massive blow amidst the ongoing Women’s Premier League 2026. Star pacer Titas Sadhu has been ruled out of the tournament due to injury, however, it is yet to be made official. In her place, the franchise has added young Jintimani Kalita to the squad.

Titas Sadhu, who has represented India in 8 ODIs and 12 T20Is, didn’t get an opportunity to play for Gujarat Giants Women in the first five games of WPL 2026. Now, she will have to take an unfortunate exit as the second leg of the league is underway.

Titas Sadhu Ruled Out of WPL 2026

Titas Sadhu, who has played seven matches over the last two seasons for Delhi Capitals, was acquired by Gujarat Giants for INR 30 lakh in the WPL 2026 auction. But with her being injury-prone, there were always doubts about her availability in the league.

Titas Sadhu injury problems are not something new. She featured in three matches last year and missed the tri-series in Sri Lanka due to injury. She also missed the white-ball tour of England in July before making a comeback in August for India A on their tour to Australia.

Jintimani Kalita has joined Gujarat Giants as Titas Sadhu replacement for this season of Women's Premier League. The franchise roped in the young pacer for INR 10 lakhs. She has featured in 13 games in her WPL career, representing the Mumbai Indians, which is second on the list of richest WPL teams.

In her Women's Premier League career, Kalita has picked 1 wicket and scored six runs. With Gujarat Giants already having some star players in the ranks, there are less chances that she might get a chance in the playing XI. With numbers not being in her favour so fa, she would be eager to get an opportunity and reclaim her spot.

Gujarat Giants Struggling in WPL 2026

Meanwhile, the Gujarat Giants are having a tough time in the ongoing WPL season. Under the leadership of Ashleigh Gardner, they started the season on a high, winning two back-to-back games against UP Warriorz Women and Delhi Capitals. Notably, in both games, they posted over 200 runs.

However, they struggled to get going afterwards. Gujarat Giants lost their third game against Mumbai Indians Women. To worsen the case further for them, they lost two back-to-back games against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB). The Ashleigh Gardner-led side is reeling at the last spot in the WPL points table. With two wins and three losses, they are in a spot of bother as the qualification threat looms over them.
