Shreyas Iyer Injury Update

Iyer injured himself during the last ODI between India and Australia at Sydney while attempting a diving catch. The dive resulted in internal bleeding as Iyer minced in pain and was immediately admitted to the hospital.

It required a surgery and he was was subsequently ruled out of the upcoming matches. Although he has started his recovery but he is yet to return to the cricket field. With Shubman Gill also injured, Iyer was expected to become India's captain for the South Africa ODIs. It is to be noted that he has an excellent record as skipper and is one of the most successful captains in IPL.

However, with both of them absent, KL Rahul will be India's captain for this series. Rahul is also expected to take the wicketkeeping gloves and will bat in the middle order during this series.
