Legendary Afghanistan all-rounder Mohammad Nabi played against his son Hassan Eisakhil in a T20 match during the Shpageeza Cricket League (SCL), which is Afghanistan’s top T20 tournament.
Notably, Mohammad Nabi is 40 years old while Mohammad Nabi son, Hassan Eisakhil, is just 18. They played on opposite teams as Nabi played for Mis Ainak Region, while his son played for Amo Region.
During the match, Nabi came to bowl the ninth over of the Amo innings. On strike was his son. What happened next was surprising and exciting.

Eisakhil hit his father for a huge six on the very first ball. He smashed it over the mid-wicket boundary. The crowd was thrilled. It was a rare and unforgettable moment.
Following that, Eisakhil then played a brilliant innings scoring 52 runs off just 36 balls. His knock included five fours and two sixes. He was the top scorer for Amo Region. Thanks to him, the team reached a total of 162 runs.

Nabi only bowled one over in the match. He gave away 12 runs and did not bowl again. Later, he came out to bat for Mis Ainak Region and hit a six, helping his team chase down the target. Notably, the Afghanistan based all rounder Mohammad Nabi had earlier planned to retire from ODIs after the recently concluded Champions Trophy 2025, but he later said he was “still thinking” about his future and may continue playing.
“These might not be my last ODIs, I will probably play less ODIs and give chances to the youngsters to build experience,” Nabi told the ICC. “I’ve discussed with the senior players and in the high-level games, maybe or maybe not, we’ll see. It will depend on my fitness.”
Nabi, had also also expressed his dream of playing alongside his 18-year-old son, Hassan Eisakhil, who represented Afghanistan in the Under-19 World Cup in 2024. A dream which has now become reality for the Afghanistan legend.
“It’s my dream. Hopefully we can do it. He is doing very well … he is a hard worker and I’m also pushing him to do work,” said Nabi.
“I want him to make his own goals… you have to score 100-plus. He’s listening and pushing all the time,” he added.
