Shimron Hetmyer hit a six off the final ball to help Seattle Orcas beat MI New York by three wickets in the thrilling match, helping the Orcas register their first win of the season after five straight losses. The game marked the Major League Cricket's highest successful run-chase as Orcas chased 238 in 20 overs.

The Orcas needed nine runs off the final over. The experienced Kieron Pollard bowled the last over with great skill. He kept bowling short deliveries without offering much pace, making it hard for the batter. But Hetmyer, while limping due to injury, shuffled across and hit the last ball for a six over fine leg, as the Orcas dugout erupted in celebration.

Hetmyer received a perfect delivery on leg stump on the final ball and managed to put it over the boundary ropes for a comfortable six. It was a stunning end to this thrilling game of cricket as Seattle Orcas players arrived to congratulate the experienced West Indies batter.

On the other hand, MI New York dugout was stunned to see the result going against them. They lost the game despite putting up a record total on the board. They were ahead in the game for most parts, but didn't quite take the game away from the opposition, which cost them in the end.

MI New York Put Up a Mammoth Total

In the Seattle Orcas vs MI New York game, MI New York batted first and posted a huge total of 237 for 4 in their 20 overs. Nicholas Pooran smashed an unbeaten 108 from just 60 balls, while Tajinder Dhillon added a quick 95 from 35 balls. The pair put on a massive 158-run partnership for the third wicket. Together, they smashed 15 fours and 16 sixes.

At one point, MI New York looked set to score over 250. But the Orcas bowlers pulled things back in the final three overs. From 218 for 3 in 17 overs, MI New York managed only 19 runs in the last 18 balls. Kyle Mayers, Jessy Singh, and Cameron Gannon bowled well at the death.

Later, Skipper Sikandar Raza also played a quick cameo, hitting 30 off just 9 balls. He hit three fours and a six off Ehsan Adil and three boundaries in a row off Delano Potgieter before getting out. The Orcas reached 86/3 at the end of the Powerplay.

Hetmyer then took control. He got good support from Klaasen, who scored 26 off 13 balls. After 10 overs, the Orcas were 137/4. While Klaasen fell in the 11th over, Hetmyer continued his onslaught. He smashed Bracewell again in the 12th over, bringing the target down to 78 from 48 balls.

Seattle Orcas Complete MLC Highest Run Chase

Shimron Hetmyer began to struggle physically but kept hitting boundaries. Boult and Adil bowled tight overs to increase the pressure. Gerald Coetzee helped by hitting two sixes and a four off Potgieter in the 16th over. Still, the game remained tense.

With 60 needed off 30, the equation became 42 from 24. Ugarkar and Boult pulled it back again as the latter dismissed Coetzee in the 18th over. However, Hetmyer was reading the bowlers well. He hit three sixes off Ehsan Adil in the 19th over to leave just 9 needed from the final 6 balls. Pollard bowled five great deliveries. But Hetmyer kept calm and finished the game with a six to bring up the MLC highest run chase in history. He remained unbeaten on 97 off 43 balls, guiding his team to 238 for 7 in 20 overs.

The win came after a tough few weeks for the Orcas. They had lost five games in a row, leading to a series of changes in the team. Head coach Matthew Mott left, and Sikandar Raza took over as captain from Heinrich Klaasen. The team hoped this reshuffle would help turn things around, and it finally worked.
