The Indian cricket universe was in shock as a veteran domestic player passed away while doing what he loved the most. Sports have made a lot of careers for many individuals, but there are also some instances when it has costed some lives.

And that's what happened during a local game of cricket recently, when Mizoram cricketer K Lalremruata lost his life during a cricket match. His unfortunate death has left the fans are wondering who is K Lalremruata.

Mizoram cricketer K Lalremruata Dies During a Cricket Match

Mizoram cricketer K Lalremruata lost his life during a local cricket match on January 7, Wednesday. The tragic incident happened during a Khaled Memoria 2nd Division Screening tournament, where Lalremruata was playing for Venghnuai Raiders CC against Chawnpui ILMOV CC.

However, Lalremruata suddenly fell down during the match on the field, after which he was given the basic treatment and also taken to the hospital, but it was too late as the Doctors couldn't save him. Later, the Cricket Association of Mizoram (CAM) stated that Lalremruata suffered a stroke during the match.

The Mizoram cricketer death has sent the country into a shock. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) extended their condolences to his family through a social media post. "Deeply saddened by the passing of Mizoram cricketer K Lalremruata. He proudly represented Mizoram in the Ranji Trophy and Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. The BCCI extends heartfelt condolences, thoughts, and prayers to his family, friends, and the Mizoram cricket community," BCCI Domestic posted on X.

Not just K Lalremruata death, there have been a no. of instances of cricketers who died on field while playing cricket. One of the famous names is Australia's Phil Hughes, who was hit by a bouncer. He was immediately taken to the hospital but unfortunately died on the way.

Who is K Lalremruata?

As mentioned above, Khawlhring Lalremruata, better known as K Lalremruata, was a cricketer from Mizoram. The 38-year-old used to play as a wicketkeeper-batter. He aspired to become one of the best wicketkeepers in India. During his career, Lalremruata represented Mizoram in two first-class matches and seven T20 games from 2018 to 2022, making his debut for the state in the Ranji Trophy at Shillong.

He later featured in one of the most iconic domestic leagues of India, the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. Despite representing Mizoram at the highest level, he remained deeply involved in cricket at the local level. He used to play for clubs constantly and was even widely respected in the region for his achievements and involvement in the growth of the cricket scene in Mizoram.
