The Indian Women’s Cricket Team are up against the Australian Women’s Cricket Team in the opening game of the three-match T20I series. The series opener between the two teams is taking place at the Sydney Cricket Ground on February 15.

The AUS vs IND T20I series begins the road to the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 for both teams. And, there will be no better opportunity for two of the best women's cricket teams to prepare against each other.

Team India made some surprise calls in their XI when the team sheet was announced. Harmanpreet Kaur won the toss and opted to field, but the side didn’t feature Amanjot Kaur, which caught the attention of many fans since she has been a key part of India's recent white-ball success.

Why Amanjot Kaur is Not Playing Today in AUS vs IND 1st T20I?

Amanjot Kaur, who has been the match-winner for India for a long time, unfortunately had to sit out due to the team combination. The management preferred another all-rounder Arundhati Reddy as Amanjot Kaur replacement, due to the latter's recent form.

Amanjot Kaur has an excellent T20I record so far. In 21 T20Is, she has scored 185 runs at a strike rate of 131.20 and an average of 30.83, including a half-century. With the ball, she has taken 8 wickets at an average of 36 and an economy rate of 7.38.

She was in great form in the WPL 2026, where she played for the Mumbai Indians Women and slammed 139 runs at a strike rate of 133.65 and an average of 23.16. Not only this, but she also picked up 4 wickets at an economy of 9.80. She is currently young and has all the qualities to become one of the best women cricketers in the future.

After winning the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025, where they beat Australia in the semi-final, India will be seen in action for the second time during the AUS vs IND 1st T20I. They recently thrashed Sri Lanka by a margin of 5-0 in December last year at home and will be carrying that confidence here.

On the other hand, Australia, under a new leader, Sophie Molineux, would want to start their new era on a high note. With both teams being filled with match-winners, it promises to be an exciting clash.
