Why Auqib Nabi is Dropped Just After Debut? Here's His Replacement For 3rd ODI

The third ODI match between India and West Indies might be a dead rubber but it is still important for both teams as they prepare for the next year's World Cup. India, who have already sealed the series, have a no. of changes for this game.

One of these changes is Auqib Nabi, who made his debut during the second ODI match. The right-arm pacer, who is highly rated in the Indian domestic cricket circle, didn't find a place in the IND vs WI 3rd ODI at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium, New Chandigarh.

Why Auqib Nabi is Not Playing Today?

Auqib Nabi is not injured, however, the return of the all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy, prompted the team management to drop him after his debut. The Indian team management has also preferred Anshul Kamboj, who made his international debut, as Auqib Nabi replacement for 3rd ODI.

Auqib Nabi didn't have a great time with the ball during his ODI debut at Guwahati. He finished with expensive figures of 0-84 in 8.5 overs, making it one of the worst international debuts that a player can have.

This was mainly due to the flat pitch at Guwahati's Barsapara Stadium, where both sides scored more than 400 runs. Despite having a bad day, Nabi was expected to play in the third match but was dropped.

Meanwhile, Nitish Kumar Reddy was rested for the second match after he featured in the first one. The talented all-rounder will have one more chance to stake a claim in India's ODI team as a replacement for Hardik Pandya.

Was It Fair To Drop Auqib Nabi?

The absence of Auqib Nabi from the IND vs WI 3rd ODI match wasn't expected. It doesn't seem fair for a player to be dropped from the team after just one match. However, the Indian team management is trying different combinations ahead of the next year's World Cup.

Nabi has been one of the best bowlers in India over the last couple of seasons. He had a fantastic Ranji Trophy season last year and was expected to make his Test debut first. However, it was the ODI format where he made his internatioal debut for India.
