Despite the presence of the best bowlers in India, the absence of Auqib Nabi from India A multi day squad for Australia series raises questions. Let's find why Nabi wasn't picked in the squad despite performing brilliantly in first-class cricket.

Why Auqib Nabi is Not in India A Squad?

Auqib Nabi has not been included for the multi-day matches between India A and Australia A as he will be playing for Jammu and Kashmir in the Irani Cup during that period.

The Irani Cup will be played from October 1 while the India A series starts from September 22. Since Auqib Nabi is a part of the J&K squad for Irani Cup, he won't be available for the series against Australia A.

Although the starting dates are different for both series, Nabi won't be able to participate in the IND A vs AUS A squad as he is like to prepare for the Irani Cup 2026 to be played between Jammu & Kashmir and Rest of India.

Important Series For Young Indian Bowlers

Auqib Nabi India A absence means that Tushar Deshpande will lead the bowling attack for the series. The other fast bowlers in the squad are Anshul Kamboj, Praful Hinge, and Vijaykumar Vyshak (subject to fitness clearance).

The series is going to be important for these bowlers who will be aiming for a spot in India's Test team, which will tour New Zealand later this year.

Auqib Nabi got his maiden India call-up during the Sri Lanka tour. He replaced Jasprit Bumrah in the squad after he was ruled out due to injury. However, Nabi is yet to play his debut Test match.

His domestic performances have been exceptional over the last two seasons and he has shown potential to play Test cricket. In the last season of Ranji Trophy, Nabi emerged as the highest wicket-taker of the season.
