Why is Shashank Singh Facing an FIR?

Shashank Singh, who is considered to be one of the best all-rounders in India, has faced an FIR along with his father, who is a retired Special Director General (DG) of Police, Shailesh Singh and his driver in the case. The case has been filed by their cook at Ratibad police in Bhopal, where he has accuses them for assault, abuse and forcibly taking away his mobile phone. As reported by IANS, he made the statement,

I was sent here for work. I was told that I would get a job if I worked there... As soon as I entered, I was made to stand all day and do whatever I was told. If I didn't, I was abused. They spoke to me in a very insulting manner and accused me of being a goon, while they themselves were behaving like hooligans... They had kept my phone for three days. They misbehaved with me every day and beat me badly.
Shashank Singh, his father, and their driver assaulted me. Then his sister came and said, ‘Kill him.’ I was just standing there with folded hands... They were not listening to anyone. They said that even Kamal Nath had bowed before them and that even an SP used to sweep at their house.

What Charges Have Been Filed Against Shashank Singh?

The FIR has been registered under multiple provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including Section 296(B) for obscene acts and verbal abuse in public, Section 115(2) for voluntarily causing hurt or assault, and Section 3(5), which deals with joint criminal liability when an offence is allegedly committed by multiple people with a common intention. However, there has been no official statement from the cricketer about the incident as of now.
