Kiran More, along with three other candidates, had contested the Baroda Cricket Association election last month. But, their applications have been disqualified.
Kiran More Disqualified Ahmedabad by High Court
More is one of the prominent figures in Indian cricket and has been quite frequent in coaching roles for various domestic sides. He is seen as one of the best wicketkeepers in India of all time. The development about his disqualification was confirmed by TOI journalist Gaurav Gupta, who tweeted:
“Ahmedabad High Court disqualified India stumper & former Chief Selector Kiran More and 3 other candidates who had contested the Baroda Cricket Association election last month!”
Reportedly, More was not eligible to contest the elections. As a result, a single-judge bench disqualified him and directed the election officer to declare the results accordingly.
Kiran More BCA elections nomination was challenged by Pradipsinh Solanki and Ramchandra Prajapati from Vadodara, who had filed the petition. They had challenged the eligibility of all four candidates including More. Their petition was related to the elections for posts including president, secretary, and treasurer of the BCA.
Kiran More Accused of Violating rules BCA Elections Rules
The petitioners argued that Kiran More, along with three other candidates, violated the rules of Baroda cricket association elections. As per the
Supreme Court’s 2022 judgment, “a person becomes ineligible after holding office for nine years. In addition, a three-year cooling-off period is mandatory after two consecutive terms.”
More, seems not to have met this criterion, and despite that, his name was nominated. The High Court took the action immediately and the former India wicketkeeper, along with the candidates, were declared ineligible. Although the High Court has directed the election officer to declare the results, they will be out two weeks later.
