Why Tilak Varma Was Angry at Umpires After IND-A vs SL-A Tri-Nation Match?

India A captain Tilak Varma was involved in a tussle with the on-field umpires during the Tri-nation series match against Sri Lanka A. The match went down to the wire with the scores getting tied after 50 overs were completed from both sides.

Later, Sri Lanka A set up a challenging target of 17 runs in the Super Over, which India A failed to chase down. India's star opener Vaibhav Suryavanshi, who was involved in a fight, tried his best but was unable to take his team home.

Why Was Tilak Varma Angry at Umpires After IND-A vs SL-A Match?

After the final ball was bowled during the IND-A vs SL-A match, Tilak Varma was furious at the umpires for their decision in the last ball of the match. Fast bowler Arshad Khan bowled a full ball on the batter Gunasekara's pads, with the batter missing his flick shot. The ball went to the keeper Prabhsimran Singh's left, who collected it after diving. The batters took a single and even attempted a second but was run out in the process.

The match got tied but Tilak argued that the batter wasn't attempting a shot and hence, the run shouldn't be allowed. However, the umpires stayed with their decision and the run stayed. Hence, the match was tied. Tilak Varma followed the umpires till the boundary line and consistently argued about the final run taken by Sri Lanka. But the final decision wasn't reversed.

Tilak Varma Fight With Umpires Continue

The IND A vs SL A Super over controversy didn't stop here. Later, when the Super Over was about to begin, Sri Lankan batters took their time to arrive into the crease. Tilak possibly argued that the delayed start would affect India A's batting in the second innings when there will be less amount of light.

Further during the Super Over, an instance came when fast bowler Arshad Khan bowled a waist-high delivery. It was a touch-and-go decision, which the third umpire ruled in favor of the bowling team. Tilak, one of the best T20 batsmen going around, got into a tussle with the umpires yet again along with some of the Indian players. However, the decision wasn't reversed.
