Will Indian Team Shake Hands With Pakistan in Asia Cup Rising Stars Championship?

The Asia Cup rising stars championship 2025 is around the corner and the tournament will see some of the young stars in action from the best teams in the tournament. The event will be played from November 14 to 23 as the tournament will be played in the 20-20 format.

Teams from India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Oman, the UAE, and Hong Kong will be taking part in the Asia Cup Rising Stars. Eight teams have been divided into two groups and not to surprise many, India and Pakistan have been placed in the same group.

Will No Handshake Controversy Continue in Asia Cup Rising Stars Championship?

The IND vs PAK Asia Cup Rising Stars championship match will be under the spotlight. There was a lot of controversy between these two sides during the Asia Cup 2025, where both of them clashed with each other thrice, including the final, which the Suryakumar Yadav-led side won.

Due to the political tensions between the two nations, Team India refused to shake hands with the Pakistan national cricket team players. The IND vs PAK handshake controversy became a massive talking point and in the last two matches, Pakistan players also refuted to do that, mocking Indian players with controversial airplane crash gestures.

After India won the Asia Cup 2025, the players refused to collect the trophy from Asian Cricket Council Chairman Mohsin Naqvi, who also happens to be the Pakistan's Interior Minister. This didn’t go well with Naqvi as he took away the trophy and India are yet to receive it.

With lot of tensions between India and Pakistan, a common question among fans has been whether the Indian Players will shake hands with Pakistan players in Asia Cup Rising Stars match or not. But that is something which is not confirmed so far.

However, it is unlikely that Indian players will shake hands with their Pakistani counterparts players in the Asia Cup Rising Stars. Even during the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025, the two teams refused to shake hands with each other as the instructions were passed on by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), the richest cricket board in the world.

The match between the two teams is expected to be the most-watched in the tournament as it is the greatest rivalry in cricket. The young Indian guns, who shone in the Indian Premier League (IPL) will be getting an opportunity to perform and will be looking to do something special on this platform.

Along with India and Pakistan, Oman and the UAE will feature in their group, while Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, and Hong Kong will be in the second group. There won’t be a super four stage in the Rising Stars Asia Cup 2025 as the top two teams from each group will advance to the semifinals, followed by the final.

There are chances that there will be two India vs Pakistan Rising Stars Asia Cup matches in the tournament. The schedule of the event is yet to be announced. India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Afghanistan and Sri Lanka will send their A sides, while UAE, Oman and Hong Kong will field full-strength sides.
