Virat Kohli's Declining Test Career

Virat Kohli retired from Tests a year ago before India's tour of England. Although he retired, he will always be counted as one of the best Test batsmen to have played the game. The right-hander has scored 9230 runs in Tests with 30 centuries to his name.

However, the last five years of Kohli's Test career (2020-2025) didn't quite go well. He averaged just close to 30 in this period. The talismanic cricketer constantly struggled against the red ball, especially in conditions which favored the bowlers.

Even in his last Test series, which was in Australia, Kohli had a miserable run after the hundred in the first match in Perth. As a result, he decided to move on from the format and concentrate on the ODI World Cup 2027.
