WPL Playoffs Qualification Scenarios 2026

The fourth edition of the Women's Premier League (WPL) is nearing its end, as only two matches are left to play in the league stage of the tournament. Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) Women are the only team that have qualified for the finals, and the remaining four teams are still fighting against each other to get a place in the eliminator.

This year's Women's Premier League has seen some of the best women cricketers showcasing their world-class skills. Since these are the final stages of the tournament, teams that are in contention will be looking to give their best.

WPL Playoffs Qualification Scenarios 2026

The playoffs race remains wide open for the Gujarat Giants, Mumbai Indians, Delhi Capitals, and even UP Warriorz. Match results will play a vital role in deciding who will play the eliminator, but factors like net run-rate and winning margins might also play a huge role. Let's have a look at WPL qualification scenarios for the playoffs:

How Gujarat Giants Can Qualify for WPL Eliminator?

Gujarat Giants and Mumbai Indians will play their last league match against each other on January 30. GG are currently at the second spot in the points table with eight points in seven matches.

  • A win vs Mumbai Indians Women in their final league game secures a spot in the Eliminator for Gujarat Giants.
  • They might still qualify if Mumbai lose and Delhi lose too, but net run rate will be crucial in that tie.

How Mumbai Indians Women Can Qualify for WPL Eliminator?

As mentioned above, MI and GG will clash against each other on January 30. The two-time champions are in the third spot in the WPL points table with six points in seven matches.

  • A win over Gujarat Giants takes MI to 8 points and very close to the Eliminator, thanks to their magnificent net run rate, the second-best after RCB.
  • If they lose to Giants, MI can qualify only if UP Warriorz beat Delhi Capitals, which will keep them ahead on net run rate in a tie.

How Delhi Capitals Women Can Qualify for WPL Eliminator?

Delhi Capitals and UP Warriorz will be playing their last league match on February 1 against each other. Just like MI, DC also have six points in seven matches but with a negative net run-rate.

  • A win in their final game puts DC into the Eliminator, regardless of the MI vs GG result.
  • They could still reach the eliminator even if they lose with six points along with MI and UPW. In this case, the highest net run rate among the three teams determines the Eliminator spot.

How UP Warriorz Women Can Qualify for WPL Eliminator?

As mentioned above, UPW will play their last league match against DC on February 1. They are in the bottom with just four points in seven matches. They can qualify

  • If they beat DC (big margin) and hope MI lose to GG (big margin too). This complex combination would lift UPW to six points and potentially into the Eliminator on net run rate.
  • Any other result: UPW will likely be eliminated, as their net run rate is the lowest.

Weather Factor

If both of the matches get affected by the rain, then the points will be shared between the teams, which means GG will have nine points and a place in the eliminator. MI will also have seven points and a chance to qualify for the eliminator if UP Warriorz beat DC Women.

However, if DC vs UPW match also gets affected by the rain then MI will still qualify due to better net run-rate than DC. This makes the WPL 2026 Playoffs Qualification Scenarios even more intense.
