On June 26, 2017, Crystal Palace F.C. appointed its first-ever foreign manager, Frank De Boer, who was one of the best managers in Crystal Palace history. Throughout his tenure at the South London side, he kept focusing on stabilizing the club in the Premier League, rather than competing for glory. After a couple of years, Frank De Boer was replaced by Patrick Viera, who is a former Arsenal midfielder. On March 17, 2023, Patrick Viera was sacked because of a 12-game winless run. Following Viera was replacement with Hodgson, it was the second tenure at Crystal Palace F.C. of Hodgson.
