Crystal Palace F.C., commonly referred to as “ the Eagles”, were founded on September 10, 1905. Crystal Palace started its professional journey in the Southern League. Later, they were introduced to the English Football League in 1920. Crystal Palace have mainly competed in the top two tiers in English Football during Crystal Palace history. Since 1964, the Crystal Palace FC team have only dropped below the second tier once, for three seasons from 1974 to 1977. On June 26, 2017, Crystal Palace F.C. appointed its first-ever foreign manager, Frank De Boer, who was one of the best managers in Crystal Palace history. Throughout his tenure at the South London side, he kept focusing on stabilizing the club in the Premier League, rather than competing for glory. After a couple of years, Frank De Boer was replaced by Patrick Viera, who is a former Arsenal midfielder. On March 17, 2023, Patrick Viera was sacked because of a 12-game winless run. Following Viera was replacement with Hodgson, it was the second tenure at Crystal Palace F.C. of Hodgson.
